Yuko Tanaka

Yuko "Uko Snowbunny" Tanaka was born in Japan, moved to New York to research for the roots of Hip Hop culture, and is trained by a legendary Hip Hop dancer, choreographer, instructor Buddha Stretch of Elite Force Crew. Since her performance debut in 2008, she has been raising the bar in her work as a choreographer, performer, and teacher also well-rounded street dancer.

Uko is a principal dancer of MopTop Music & Movement Company and has performed in three time MTV Best choreography nominee Buddha Stretch’s “Hip Hop/Be-Bop” a collaboration of Hip Hop and Be-Bop around the country including the 10th & 11th San Francisco Hip-Hop Dance Festival, the Denver Dance Festival, and the Choreographers Ball Carnival NYC, a Popping piece “What’s Popping”, a Locking piece “Rock/Lock” at Summer Stage at Herbert Von King park, a House/Salsa piece “Chocolatino”, “EFC with Friends” with the legendary Elite Force Crew at the 21st Moptop Anniversary at the Alvin Ailey City Theater, “Super Buddha & Bunny Show” at Roots of Hip Hop by Robin Dunn at NY Dance New Amsterdam, and 4th annual LA J.U.I.C.E. festival at the Ford Atmosphere Theater featured on KCET-TV, “What’s Poppin” at The Urban Movement Tour at Roseland Ballroom, Uko was a co- choreographer of Buddha & Bunny’s show at Casita Maria block party 2012, and Lindy Hop influenced piece at EXPG Show Case at Highline Ball Room in 2015.

Uko has performed in Tony Award Winning Choreographer Jason Samuels Smith collaboration with Buddha Stretch’s “Rhythmdome”, a collaboration of Tap & Hip-Hop dance at the Fall For Dance Festival at NY City Center. Uko was one of main performers for Dancing In The Streets presents “Centrifugal Force” at Lincoln Center with Buddha Stretch, the star of “FELA” on Broadway Adesola Osakalumi, and Gus Solomons Jr, and “Hip Hop/Kung Fu” at Asian Society with Buddha Stretch, Michele Byrd McPhee, & Ms Vee. Uko was one of choreographers of “UpTown Gets Down” in collaboration with Dancing in the street and Breakin’ Convention NYC at Apollo theater along with Ephrat Ashley and Ms Vee.
